Project greenlight 3 (update #12)

Lookit these guys:

kentmartinpg3.tiff

So serious. So full of mystery. So fucking up their lines.

We're done with our three-minute "Please Choose Us!" video. That's Martin on the left, Yours Truly on the right. The shoot went well. Laughs were had. Gummies were eaten. Overall, it wasn't unlike the script-writing experience: very little time, a whole lot to do, but in the end, it got done and was a satisfactory experience. I'm pretty sure this is the end of this particular train, though, but I did say that after the Top 1000, so who the fuck knows?

There are still some people out there who -- don't mean to be pushy! -- but who have read the script and haven't given us their impressions. Don't be shy! You won't hurt our feelings. Well, you might hurt mine, but I'll get over it, since I know we still have a lot of work to do.

(And a shout-out to reader Bull, who did give his impressions. Thanks, man. Go ahead and turn around and we'll commence the scratching...)

hey man,

I also made Top 100 for PGL3.

Did you find it as hard as I did to cram everything you wanted to say into a 3 minute segment?! Seriously, that was hard shit lol

Where can I read your screenplay, I'd like to read it. I wrote Four of a Kind if you're interested in reading it.

We look like a german industrial band in that photo.

Let us name our band "SONGS ABOUT ARCHITECTURE AND STRUCTURE IN THE MEDIUM OF WRITING WITH MONOSPACED TYPEFACES." otherwise known as: SATAASITMOWIMT. Our first album will be called "DOUBLE SPACE AFTER PERIODS, ONE MINUTE PER PAGE" and we will perform it on a deconstructed Delorean riddled with piezo contact points that trigger samples of ennui and despair.

I have started cultivating my luscious drug habits, and have named my guitar Blixa.

Jack,

You will be contacted shortly about arranging a script swap. You will know them by their black trenchcoats and robotic monotone.

And speaking of running time... We were really proud when the initial edit came in at 1:30. Wow, we thought, we said everything we wanted to, and made it quick and to the point. They're gonna love us!

Then Martin realized he read the time-code wrong, and it was actually 4 minutes long.

So, yer goddam right: that shit *was* hard!

It was such a phenomenally stupid thing to misread timecode, that I feel I need offer a bit of an excuse...er, explanation. Timecode (as everybody knows) reads hours:mintues:seconds:frames, or hh:mm:ss:ff. There are two ways to show hours, either as 00 (like, I'm in the zero hour), or 01 (like, I'm in the first hour).

I normally have all my programs set to the former, which I prefer, for this very reason: after 14 hours of editing and staring at my screen on Sunday, I was reading the hour as minutes. Somehow, when I upgraded Final Cut Pro, it defaulted to the latter, and I hadn't noticed until after those long editing hours (most things I edit aren't time limited, so I pay less attentiont to timecode than what's on screen. That's gonna change now!).

Sigh. Oh well. Turned out we had to trim a full minute out, but we kept all the content. As it is, we running at 03:59:26. Four frames under the limit! Wait, wasn't that a Motorhead song...

Motorhead? I thought it was Brewer & Shipley...
