The fuck?
Where we saw it: film | We deign to rate it: bullshit outta 100It's a cruel, cruel world.
For Kent's regular's, a note from the blog system admin: I don't know why you can't post URL's in comments, but I have to confess that it's kind of handy and the amount of comment spam has dropped to nearly nil. If anybody has a complaint, let me know--but it probably won't be fixed anytime soon, at least not until we upgrade to the newest version of Moveable Type.
Thx, the Management
Posted by: Martin McClellan at January 25, 2005 06:40 AMYeah, not sure why Giamatti was left out of the SIDEWAYS lovefest. In my opinion, though, he shoulda had one for AMERICAN SPLENDOR and maybe PRIVATE PARTS. But, hey, at least he got to host SNL. ;-)
Posted by: Scott at January 25, 2005 03:22 PMOscar's known for horrible injustices, but this is one for the books if you ask me.
Posted by: stennie at January 25, 2005 04:45 PMOscar probably just confused Giamatti's performance with Hackford's direction of 'Ray'. Honest mistake. I'm sure they'll clear things up in the next few days.

Posted by: Quack Corleone at January 25, 2005 11:43 PMAnd what's up with Jamie Foxx's double nominations? He was good in COLLATERAL, but does he really deserve TWO nominations when someone like Giamatti is left out completely? Guess Foxx will have to get at least one award this year.
Posted by: Scott at January 26, 2005 11:18 AMEh, as much as it sucks, I think it's for the best that Giamatti wasn't nominated. I'd like to see his first nomination come during a year in which the award hasn't pretty much already been handed to Jamie Foxx.
Posted by: Steve at January 31, 2005 09:27 PMTrue dat. Although, part of me thinks that it's possible, just possible, that Don Cheadle could steal it away from him. (This from a guy who hasn't seen either RAY or HOTEL RWANDA and has a bad record in Oscar predictions. I mean, look who I thought would be nominated for Best Actor...)
Posted by: kza at January 31, 2005 11:38 PMHave to agree with Mr. Steve. There's not a chance in hell anyone but Jamie Foxx will win best actor. I'm sure Don Cheadle's performance in "Hotel Rwanda" is a quality one (haven't seen it, either), but Foxx played an iconic figure in an epic biopic and we all know that the Academy loves them some epic biopics.
